ABOUT TENNESSEE BUY LOCAL!
TN Buy Local (TBL) was launched in March 2010 to support local businesses and entrepreneurs in Middle Tennessee. In January 2011, TBL affiliated with the American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA). AMIBA is a non-profit organization that helps communities like Nashville launch and successfully operate programs to support community-based enterprise and entrepreneurism, build local wealth and prevent the displacement of independent businesses by major corporations.
TENNESSEE BUY LOCAL! MISSION
TN Buy Local (TBL) seeks to prevent the displacement of local independent businesses, ensure ongoing opportunities for entrepreneurs and advance citizen engagement in directing the development of the Middle Tennessee community.
TENNESSEE BUY LOCAL! VISION
TN Buy Local (TBL) wishes to partner with other like-minded community organizations and local, independent businesses to create a more sustainable Middle Tennessee.
Sustainability is the capacity to endure. It is the potential for long-term maintenance of well being, which has environmental, economic, and social dimensions.
When needs are met locally by locally owned enterprises, people have greater control over their lives, more money is recycled back into the community, jobs are more secure, economies are more stable, and there are the means and incentives to protect the environment and to build the relationships of mutual trust and responsibility that are the foundation of community.
